One Year Until Vancouver Olympics

2010

It is one year until the Vancouver 2010 Olympics kick off. And while I was shut out on my quest to get tickets (put $1800 pp of ticket requests into the lottery and didn’t receive 1 ticket) I won’t be putting the Olympics on the ban list.

In fact, over the next 12 months, there will be a series of Olympic themed posts including a 2010 update on the popular 2008 Summer Olympic Medals Per Capita report on the R4NT.com main site as well as new posts surrounding Canada – Best Dressed at the Olympics and Olympic Predictions – R4NT Style. Of course, there will also be a focus on Canada’s athletes and their chances in the medal standings, because lets be real, medals count and gold counts for more. Especially when no Canadian has ever won a gold medal on Canadian soil. Who will be the first?

Oh and those “thousands of tickets” which are supposed to go on sale? Well don’t get your hopes up, but apparently I wasn’t the only person shut out of tickets despite slapping down a value which would be worth more than my first car.

Caley Denton, vice-president, ticketing and consumer marketing for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Games… acknowledged that many people were frustrated by not getting the tickets they wanted or not getting tickets at all and he advised people to be patient for the next tickets sale phases.

That means Canadians’ best hopes for tickets are the contingency sale this year, or the thriving scalpers market.
